Public involvement activities will continue throughout the duration of the project. Call, write or email us to get involved!<\/p>\n<p>FDOT staff are available for meetings with public officials and local civic organizations. These meetings will provide information on the project status, design concepts, and other study considerations. They also will provide an opportunity for those who have a stake or an interest in the proposed project to comment on the study\u2019s findings. <\/p>\n<h2>Design Change and Right-of-Way Re-evaluation Public Hearing<\/h2>\n<p>A <strong>Public Hearing<\/strong> was held <strong>Tuesday, September 24, 2019,<\/strong> at First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg, 1900 Gandy Boulevard N, St. Petersburg, FL 33702. The hearing provided information about the Preferred Build Alternative and allowed residents, business owners, tenants, and those interested to comment and express views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed project. The hearing included an open house that began at 5:30 pm. The formal portion began at approximately 6:30 pm where FDOT representatives made a formal presentation on the proposed improvements and were available to speak with attendees, take comments and answer questions. The public was given the opportunity to provide comment in writing or by mail, verbally at the microphone during the formal presentation, or verbally to the court reporter.<\/p>\n<p>One hundred and forty one (141) members of the public signed in at the public hearing. Fifteen (15) comments were written at the hearing, 11 were orally received at hearing and 43 additional comments were received by mail, email, and through the website during the official comment period which ended October 4, 2019. A transcript of the public hearing is provided in the Comments and Coordination Report, available on the project website.<\/p>\n<h2>Past Public Involvement Efforts<\/h2>\n<p>A series of <strong>neighborhood meetings<\/strong> were conducted between <strong>May 13, 2019<\/strong> and <strong>August 27, 2019<\/strong> with nine associations throughout the corridor to provide feedback to FDOT. These included:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Harris Park Neighborhood Association<\/li>\n<li>Deuces Live<\/li>\n<li>St. Pete Heights Neighborhood Association<\/li>\n<li>Gateway\/ St. Pete Carillon Area Business Group<\/li>\n<li>Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association<\/li>\n<li>Euclid-St. Paul Neighborhood Association<\/li>\n<li>Greater Woodlawn Neighborhood Association<\/li>\n<li>North Kenwood Neighborhood Association<\/li>\n<li>Meadowlawn Neighborhood Association <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information on these meetings and other coordination meetings please see the Comments and Coordination Report.\n<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>Public Hearing<\/strong> was held for the original PD&amp;E Study on <strong>September 29, 2015. Draft project documents<\/strong> were available for public review from <strong>September 8, 2015 to October 9, 2015. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Newsletters<\/strong> were prepared and distributed to property owners and other interested parties throughout the study process. <\/p>\n<p><!--\nFDOT held a <strong>Public Hearing<\/strong> on <strong>September 24, 2019<\/strong> to present conclusions reached about improvement options and potential effects of the project. Project statements made at the hearing were recorded in a public hearing transcript, which FDOT will review before approval of the study findings is granted.\n\nThe public hearing was held at <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/d1dYNKSWJ2wc1qxH6\"><strong>First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg, Heritage Hall, 1900 Gandy Boulevard N, St. Petersburg, FL 33702<\/strong><\/a> from <strong>5:30 to 7:30 p.m.<\/strong> Beginning at 5:30 p.m., FDOT representatives were available to answer questions and discuss the project. Exhibits and other project-related materials showing the proposed improvements were available. A PowerPoint presentation ran continuously during the open house. At 6:30 p.m., FDOT representatives held the formal portion of the hearing, which was an opportunity to make formal oral public comments. Following the formal portion of the hearing, the informal open house resumed and continued until 7:30 p.m. The public was able to attend anytime during the two-hour meeting to review project information and talk with project team members.\n\nA court reporter was available to receive comments in a one-on-one setting before and after the formal portion of the hearing. You may mail your written comments to the address pre-printed on the back of the comment form that was provided at the hearing or enter them on the <strong>Comments<\/strong> page on this web site.
